A lucky strike
I have been looking for a 510 or 520 for a while. While I have a couple of 500s, I was interested in a bigger table and the additional possibilities it would offer.
Then I saw an add taking offers for a "510", a bandsaw, a jointer, speed reducer, a DC-3300 dust collector and many accessories.
So I did my best offer and after a couple of days, I had to add $25 to my early offer and I got the machine.
To my surprise (and suspicion by the photos) it was actually a 510 upgraded to 520 plus all mentioned above and other good parts like Lathe Chisels set, Talon Chuck, cross-cut table, carbide blade and dado blade, the dust collector had the optional remote start and large filter, etc. etc. I learned that it belonged to a man who indulged with the SS catalog and could afford all but now retired, moved south and left the machine for sale. In a nutshell I think now I reached my best wishes for a while (no more looking at Craigslist!) and all I wish now is to start saving for the Power Pro.
Sorry for the long rant, I just wanted to share my joy.

Since you seem to be gloating, I shall hazard a $1100 guess.

I drove 100 miles each way in my 1998 "clunker" and that was about my limit.
You are in California and I have seen a few good deals there and I thought you were the lucky ones
I guess with people retiring and moving south there will be always some deals if I look long enough.
I any case when my time to sell on when I am gone and my family has to sell my stuff somebody will get a great deal as demand remains low and prices reflect that.
Good luck in finding a great deal!
PS in case this is actually a lucky strike I"ll buy a lotto ticket this week : )

You have done well, very well. It is my opinion however that you'll come to NEED a jointer and surface planer long before you NEED a PowerPro Upgrade.eartigas wrote:I drove 100 miles each way in my 1998 "clunker" and that was about my limit.

Very nice indeed.
When I was on my buying spree I found that much of the time it was a lot cheaper for me to acquire many attachments and accessories by buying "deals" on complete SS's than to try to add attachments one at a time separately. Often an included "goody box" was worth nearly the whole sales price. I bought most of mine off of Ebay.
