Demo was in town

Post by moggymatt »

Shopsmith demo was in town the last few days. Ordered a front table support and the Incra V-120. Was kinda odd as It was about 11 am and hardly anyone was wanting to watch a demo. There was a lot of traffic but only a few seemed even curious the little bit of time I was there. Last time it was in town it was summer and it seemed to draw a good number of lookers. Could be the single digit temps and how close it is to Christmas

This June, Billy Martin was in Billings, Montana. The first three or four Lowe's employees i asked had no clue about the name Shopsmith, let alone that "they" were having a demo in their store that day. I was there when Lowe's was having a big sale, lots of people, but only two others were watching the demo and they had no intention of buying. Billy and I talked for easily an hour before he wrote up the sale. During that time, no one else stopped by.

Not certain whether it's the temperature, season, or publicity (or maybe lack there of). It will be interesting to hear if the demo near Boise has a better attendance.

Is there a schedule somewhere that says when/where the demos will be? I doubt they will be anywhere closer than 5-6 hours away in my life time but would be interesting to track the schedule to know when they might be kinda close…I'd like to watch a PP in action.

Pasco WA is the "closest" to me...something like a 10 hour drive. Are these demos multiple days? Each event lists a 3-day range, so I assume so but I had always presumed they were a one day deal...I guess it makes sense to do multiple days by the time they go to the trouble of getting there and setting up etc.

I would guess that there will be a demo days closer to you (Sacramento ?) within a few months. Just keep checking the schedule. If the past is any indication, different Lowe's will host at various times of the year.

Be well,

Sacramento is about 6+ hours, San Francisco/Bay Area about 5-6 hours depending on location, Portland is 7 hours…we are basically a long way from anywhere (which is how most folks up here like it ;) ). The closest towns with a Lowes are Redding CA (3 hours) and Medford OR (3.5 hours)…I'll keep my eyes on the schedule and who knows, they might hit one of those spots some day.
