Searching for the new Tekna Infinity update and found the DVR motor ready to roll!

I asked a rep from Tekna Tool last year if they were going to do this and he said in about a year. Right on target.

Different software(no ss relevant stuff) I would assume.

Power specs the same, so it might be identical.

Mounting????

I had the same thought re mounting. From what I was told they have different mounting schemes that one can choose from. Probably not user friendly for the backyard mechanic type but maybe OK for the OEM guys.

Figure there is still a very nice profit in this price does anyone now see why I said the Power Pro price was too high? Or am I still wrong?

Not gonna say you are wrong, but, the this one is merely a reduced function part of a pp.

Not valid for comparison!!!

Don't have a "for sure" answer, Ed, But have some visual observations.

The motor looks to be the same, minus the belt pulley which is not an "off the shelf" item. Don't know who the manufacturer is here, but a couple of us PP owners have found off center holes in the pulleys. The pulley also has to have grooves to fit the poly "V" belt and a set screw to hole it on the shaft.

The electronics on this unit are a whole lot lighter than those in the PowerPro. Size wise, the PowerPro power units are about three times the size as this unit.

The visual controls of this unit are lacking 5 push buttons. Probably a lot of programs.

If you consider that there is still a profit in the price it should give you a real close idea of what Shopsmith is paying for the Power Pro motor and circuit board. Agreed there are other parts with the shopsmith package and a new face plate, and some hardware, some R&D.

But come on add another $200 for all of this and you are still well below the Power Pro price and right about where I said the price should be.

$200 ain't enough for all 'this'.

Remember this is a low volume product.
