That removes the highlight (indicating that the post has now been read) but if you leave the site and then come back - the post will be "unread".

I assume that we are not referring to a post that someone has responded to in the meantime?

IF I have responded to that post I would not expect it to be highlighted. If I had responded, obviously I read it.

Allow me to repeat my questions.

Why do posts that I have read keep coming back as UNREAD?

Is this something I can cure or is it inherent with the site?

Dusty,

A couple of questions for you, then I'll try to answer yours:

- What browser and operating system are you using?
- Is your browser accepting cookies, or do you have them turned off?
- What do you mean by, "...leave the [SS] site and come back" (how do you leave it and how long before you return?)

Ken

I use Windows 7 with Firefox.

I allow cookies.

When I initially said this, I was going to other web sites to browse and then came back to the SS site without closing the browser.

I have since tried closing the browser completely and then come back in to the SS site. It seems to perform differently but I still find posts that I have read are highlighted (indicating not having been read). I have not delayed return to the site for any extended period.

This just happened to me. I hit the refresh thingy to the right of the web address (the circular arrow) and it updated the posts as read. I am using an iPad...

By "unread", do you mean showing up when you click the "New Posts" link, or do you mean bolded?

And I assume you're not moving between computers when it happens.

Do you open a NEW TAB to browse other web sites?
