I need to replace the brass bushing on one of my casters. Can someone tell me how and where I might be able to find the brass bushing. Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to the part on the caster stem?

Not the retaining spring. There is a brass bushing that holds the stem in the shaft. Need that bushing. It is about an 1/8" thick and fits in the slot at the top of the stem.

That's not a bushing. It's the retainer on a stem caster. If the casters are falling off of your SS when lifted, It's probably the Caster Housing that is the problem.

As far as I know that retainer is not replaceable rather the entire caster should be replaced.

This 2" friction stem caster from Menard's should do the job if replacing the caster(s) . If it's the housing, I recommend seeking out a set of used casters.

Post #4 was not a 'guess'!

It was a statement of fact.

The reason for all the early confusion was because that 'ring' was being
referred to as a 'bushing'.

It presses against the interior of the bore that the caster stem is inserted into and prevents the caster and stem from slipping out when it all is raised off the ground. Hence it is a retaining ring. I do not think there is a corresponding groove in the bore for it to slip into(friction fit).

Other than taking one off another caster, I do not know where to obtain one.

You could make one out of music wire.

Thanks JPG, so the retainer is a friction fit. It looks like a brass ring to me. And no I'm not a musician. I was hoping one of the SS gurus would have something up their sleeve.
