offset bowl

At my age, I was thinking that the wide side of the bowl could be under my chin to catch the drips, but the bowl far enough out so I could still see and maybe catch another spoonful of soup or cereal. Or, put my name on the wide portion to make sure I got the porridge.

I like it!

Some years back I did a routed two step off center bowl shape in a mantel. It was for what ever was in my pockets at the end of the day. While shallow it did work reasonable well for that purpose.

I used a router because it was in a long board which I could not turn. Later the idea of doing it on the lathe and cutting it out to fit in as an inlay came up but it was too late by then.

I had planned to duplicate that idea in this house but I've never gotten to it. Now seeing your bowl I'm sure I'd go the turned route if I ever do.
