newbie intro

Hey guys. Fairly new to the Shopsmith world, having purchased a Mark V about a year ago. Had a lot of extras and included the original manuals and paper work. Typical dad had purchased and never really used. The son didn't have a lot of interest.

But I don't do wordwork. :confused:

But I do a lot of plastic and aluminum work and this fills the bill. I wouldn't mind finding another unit just so I wouldn't have to switch things up as often.

I also wouldn't mind finding a dust collector.

I do use it for wood when creating patterns. I also am going to be making some wood boxes for mold casting.

One thing i haven't been happy with is that the table saw blade has too much run out for my use. So I haven't been using it. But I did order a double bearing quill today, we will see how much that helps. Today doing a bit of investigating due to my drive belt giving up the ghost, I figured out that this is a 1984 unit and found this forum.

So, I won't be a lot of help, but you might see me asking some beginner questions.......

Tell us where you are located, maybe we have someone near by that can help. Welcome and you just made you second best investment. The shopsmith was the first and this forum the second. You have come to the right place to learn about you new shopsmith. :D
