How many of you'ns actually DRINK buttermilk, and how many of you use buttermilk for cooking. (Pancakes, biscuits and ranch dressing and such?

Yes, I DO drink it. Have always liked the flavor.

Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.

Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

Wish I could put up 2 responses to the poll. I drink it, AND use it for cooking.

I also collect it from homemade butter.

Buttermilk is used occasionally for cooking. I do not drink it. I grew up, however, in a family that did.

Side Note: You can build a poll that allows multiple replies. It is an option during poll set up.

My mother always loved the stuff. To me, it tasted like soured (spoiled, blinked, clabbered  ) milk.

Have always liked buttermilk. Wife uses it in cooking and I get the remainder.
Tried it on Cheerieos once. Not good! As a dunk medium for choc. chip cookies, it ain't bad, though.

I crumble up corn bread into a glass of butter milk and enjoy it even now. This was a really special treat when I was growing up.

I drink it on occasion but use it mostly for cooking. Primarily cornbread and buttermilk chicken.

In my opinion the cultured stuff you get in the store isn't buttermilk. It's a buttermilk like substance. I wish I could get hold of the real thing easy and cheap.

You're right in that the stuff you get at the store isn't real buttermilk. However, since I make my own butter from manufacturer's cream, first by souring it, then by churning it, I have real buttermilk. (I also get sour cream as thick as joint compound. {Drywall mud.})

But, I like the store bought stuff, and even better if I culture some out of whole milk, instead of 1% milk. A little seasoned salt, and fresh cracked black pepper.

JPG, there was an option to have numerous choices, but only 1 response per voter. (That I could find.)
