Band Saw allignment issue
I would like to use my bandsaw, but when i slide the head stock to the band saw drive the aren't alligned in height. I know i have to use the coupler, but are the shafts supposed to be on different levels?

Follow the setup procedure in the bandsaw manual and you will have little problem in getting the shafts to align. They must be in alignment to avoid excessive wear and vibration. I have found that a couple of stop collars on the tubes helps with the alignment. If you do not have a manual a call to Shopsmith will get you one quickly along with some friendly help from their service reps.sthomson76@aol.com wrote:I would like to use my bandsaw, but when i slide the head stock to the band saw drive the aren't alligned in height. I just set up my bandsaw for the first time last week. The horizontal and vertical alignment are both set with the eccentric mounting tubes (either the stock 5137779 or the newer 555626). Loosen the allen set screws that hold the mounting tubes in the base of the bandsaw. Hand-rotating the tubes sets the horizontal position (about 1/4" play with the stock tubes). The vertical is set by lifting the bandsaw until the hub on the bandsaw lines up with the hub on the headstock. I found that using a quick-clamp in the spreading mode to lift the bandsaw body from the Mark V frame made it easy to set and hold the vertical height while I tightened the set screws on the mounting tubes.
I highly recommend that you do the complete alignment as show in the bandsaw alignment. The new Father’s day sale catalog page 56 exploded view list the manual as part number 845539.
I hope this helps since I am a Newbie and usually find I don’t know what I am talking about
