On the old format I had tried years ago to leave a wider space above the sig but if I hit enter about 3 or 4 times when I hit submit it would still only leave one line. I just formed the habit of hitting enter about 3 times and then hitting a period. That fooled it into thinking that there was content there and it left the space I wanted.
