Gas grill recommendations???

That's a good grill. They have made that basic model for many years. I have the same grill but do not have the Infrared heat grate.
I have been out of the Grill bizz for a couple of years now so not up to speed what retailers have what models. Do you have a Target close by? Take a look at them first. They use to have very sharp pricing of Charbroil grills. 3 or 4 years ago they had that grill with out the inferred for $279-$300.
Don't let the fear of assembling a grill yourself make you pass on a good deal. They are not as hard to put together as they once were. You put the cabinet together and bolt the "Grill" on top.

UPDATE_ Just as an example, here is a model with 5 burners with out the inferred at target for $299 but it does not say if the burners are steel, stainless steel or brass. http://www.target.com/p/Char-Broil-5-Bu ... A-13805702

Lowes has it for 399 already assembled. (Seem like everyone is doing the free assembley thing).:) Home Depot has the same grill for the same price but the pans under the grates are different. It is a dished shaped solid pan at HD and the one from Lowes has a flat plate with a lot of holes. I am wondering about the holes stopping up and being hard to clean. On the other hand I wander about the consistency of the heat on the HD system.

Everyone is doing free assembly now because most of it is assembled at the factory. I use to build one in 20 or 30 min. But remember I had built 100's of them over the years, knew what tools I needed, Did not have to look at the directions etc.....

I don't know. Can you tell me how cast aluminum will hold up to the heat of a bed of charcoal briquets?

I have that grill and I like it and the infra-red. The Weber was the one that initially interested me - I was replacing a Weber that gave me many years of service. The price was daunting so I did give a glance at others. The Charbroil was interesting but at 1/3 the price would it stand up? The salesman convinced me with a simple comment: "The Charbroil will definitely not last as long as the Weber, but you can buy another when this one wears out and then another when your second wears out for what you pay for the Weber."
The unit is not built with the highest quality stainless steel - a magnet will stick to it, but parts are replaceable and the difference in price between it and the Weber buys a lot of steak!
A few final thoughts; Infra-red cooking involves a learning curve and the self cleaning feature does work. BTW, get the cover. As I stated the sheet metal is not as substantial as the Weber.

Well I decided to go with the Charbroil mainly because of price. I have to say that I cooked the best chicken breast ever the first time out on this thing. I would highly recommend the infrared cooking system!:)

We used this grill for the last two years. It is a real gas hog, prone to falling apart. It is on my list of items to replace SOON.

I may be because we are in the middle of winter here in Minnesota, but I did find thtat Home Depot here starts clearance on grill around Xmas time. I was in the store to buy something else and found a $229 grill for $50.03. Why the 3 pennies extra, I have no idea. They also seemed to be clearancing a 2014 Charbroil model for about 1/3 off at most of the stores I looked at.
