I did set the "Floating Table" into the end of the shop smith and really just by mistake moved the power head closer to the middle of the machine. This allowed me to get the 32 inches to the end of the extention table that the fence called for. ( using the 5' extention tubes ) It is very stable and will work fine now.
Kellycat,
That was no mistake, simply good planning. One of the things I like about woodwoking with the shopsmith is it keeps my mind active. I am forever trying to figure out what Nick or Dusty really mean:p
Or why didn't thit fit right? It sounds to me as though you have mastered the game. Jim

My Incra table is still on backorder, but glancing through the doc, has anyone drilled the holes for that "table tab"? Not too crazy about drilling more holes into a table if not really neccessary. I already a predrilled extension table for the main installation.
Tim I did,
I took careful measurements and measured twice and then used a center punch to make sure the drill bit would not move. I drilled the first hole as per the instructions then set the tab in place with their self tapping screws. I then drilled the second hole so I knew it would fit I was so proud of myself it looked fantastic! I mounted the fence system only to find out that you don’t drill the holes in the table that the fence system mounts too! As it turns out you mount it to one of the floating tables that come with the Shopsmith. I guess the tab is to give the fence extra support as you slide it back and forth to the blade. I didn’t move the tab yet but I have to. The table they show in the instructions looks just like the one you mount the base of the fence system too. Maybe I was suppose to buy two of them? One good thing the extension table that came for the ultra fence system was already pre drilled for the system.
Luckliy after reading the manual, I realized that the 2 holes for the tab were to be used on another floating table. At least you had a good practice run on the one you did.
Do you see a real need for the tab to move the table/fence together. Granted mine isn't here yet so I don't know how heavy it will be, how well it moves, etc. Just trying to prepare when it gets here.
I ordered the Ultimate Fence/Router System Package. It is all on back order. So you all get this figured out, with pictures, so I will know what to do when mine comes in. LOL

Mine has been on backorder too - at least all the Incra stuff. The predrilled 520 table is already here. I'll decide on the drilling for the tabs once I have everything setup and use it a little and see if there is a real need for it.
I just spoke with someone at SS. All the Incra stuff is on back order, and he didn't have any idea when they would ship. I asked if we would be notified when they ship, and he said, "probably not".
The pro planer is in production, waiting on parts. SS should have them by June 20th. So, I guess end of the month or 1st part of July for that.
The part that bothers me, is Incra won't notify when shipping. Who knows when that will be, a person could be on vacation, and here all these goodies are sitting at your front door for anyone to see if they sit there too long.

I ran into another problem with my fence system. I was cutting pieces that needed to be ripped at 22 1/2" and I noticed that no matter what I did it was binding and kicking back at the end of the cuts. I thought maybe my fence had moved on me when it kicked back the first time and it was slightly out of adjustment. In the instructions it says to leave the Phillips screws loose and run the fence up to the first miter gauge slot in the main table to square it up then tighten up the screws. I do this and then run the fence up to the blade to "Zero" it. However when I run it back to 22 1/2" it is off more than a sixteenth at the input end. When I run it back to the first miter slot it lines up perfectly. How can this be? I am using the floating table as mentioned in the earlier post along with the 5' extension tubes. Maybe that’s why they didn’t have me use the floating table in the instructions because I can’t move it enough to square the fence to the main table at 22 ½”. If I loosen the bolts on the floating table to square it up at 22 ½” will it be off at the first miter slot?
kellycat, I was wondering if you had found a solution to your problem?
I am now in the process of setting mine up, although mine is a slightly different system as it includes the router table and all. I'm a little frustrated with SS on this. They provided instructions for the router table by itself and then instructions for the TSIII system by itself. But, not instructions for the system as a whole, so I really have no idea how this was supposed to go together other than the photo in the catalog.
I did drill the floating table, and inside the b-06 hardware pack there was a folded 8-1/2 x 11" sheet for option 2, using the fixed table extension. I could not make out the photo on the sheet. But, I believe I have figured it out, and I do not like either option. You do not have a 4 point achor. You are anchored at the main table, but the other end is hanging out there in space on the telescoping legs. IMO a really bad design. $1000 worth of inconsistency.
OK, I'm done complaining, any cheese to go with my wine.
I think I have come up with a solution to this, in fact, I wanted to be able to use the jointer at the same time. I'll post pictures of what I have in mind in a later post.
