Follow Dusty and be sure that YOUR 8" dado set is rated for the rpm you use for your cut.

I would add 'listen' to the machine. It will tell you if it is too fast.

Like that fly hole cutter!!!! :eek:

Thank you for all the information. My new Mark 7 is shipping and I wasn't sure if I needed a new Dado or could use what I have.

I've used a 8" Forrest Dado king on my 500 for twenty years, with no problems.
After upgrading to 510, the 510 dado insert works just fine with 3/4" dados.
