Hello all,
I am new to the Shopsmith forum and wanted to take a minute of your time to introduce myself. I just retired from the Air Force and am a new Shopsmith owner; actually "new" might not be the best description for the 1958 Shopsmith Mark V that I am restoring. After using a friend of mine's while we were building my shadowbox I decided that this was a tool that I needed! After looking on Craigslist and talking it over with my wife I found my "Greenie" and it is almost completely restored. I also found a 1956 Magna Bandsaw and a 1958 Magna Jointer to round out my machine. Once I get everything up and running again, it was barely "running" when I bought it, I will start looking harder at upgrading it. So far I have replaced four bearings, both belts, the control sheave (it was cracked), the switch and power cord on the headstock. Once I get the control sheave in, I can put the headstock back together. After blowing 57 years of sawdust out of the 3/4 horse motor I was glad to see that it ran like a champ. As soon as I figure out how to upload photos I will post them.

BTW a Greenie is a Mark 5.
