Thanks for your questions and kind remarks, I am nowhere near being a expert craftsman, but keep trying to achieve making useful furniture.

Here are the photos taken since the rocker is done. YEA! Done. In the finishing process, finally the time to quit has arrived,

Yes, after staining the first coat, I found some glue spots not discovered earlier . More sanding and more staining over the sanded areas.

Were those arms sliced from the same piece of wood?

Simply amazing! I loved watching this project. Thank you for sharing it.

The arms were bandsawn from the same piece of wood. Black walnut, planed to 1 3/4" thick. The slopes of the arms were somewhat sliced off by bandsawing at an angle. After mounting, they were ground down with an angle grinder equipped with a "kutzall fine doughnut disk.

As you can see, I did a better"slicing job" on the right arm than the left.

P.S. The blank for the seat can be seen to the right of the arms. The squared marking for the right front leg cutout is at the bottom of the blank. The short mark between the bottom two boards shows the location of a biscuit joint.

Your daughter-in-law is a very lucky lady. I'd love to be "a fly on the wall" when you present it to her -- please let us know how that goes.
