Realistically, each one takes up as much room as 2 bicycles, parked beside each other, front to back.

Unfortunately, bikes are a bit of a sore subject around here. I tend to buy them, fix them up and sell them on Craigslist or part them out on ebay. She has a strict "move one out before the next one comes in" policy. So that line might not work.

However, to her credit...she has very wisely convinced me that it's probably a better plan to do more of a full restoration while it's still mostly in pieces.

So, it's going to get broken all the way down, cleaned, and painted. I don't know that I'll get it factory fresh, but I will get it in good shape.

I will update this thread as I go.

The painted parts are actually looking pretty good with just a simple cleaning.

I'm getting the rust off the small parts using the vinegar and salt method from Fine Woodworking (http://www.finewoodworking.com/item/113 ... st-remover) and it worked great for the first batch. Scotchbrite and WD40 was not enough to get the way tubes clean, so I'm going to pick up a brass brush for the drill and see how that does. It may come down to some high-grit wet/dry.

A lube question: The only grease I have on hand is Phil Wood Waterproof Grease. It is made for packing bearings, but will this work for the quill gears?

Turns out the drill chuck was not in the box of parts that came with it. Oh well, back to ebay.

I've gotten all the rust and old sawdust off, given everything a good lube, and put on a new, tool rest, belt and switch. I still need to do the legs and casters, make an insert for the table, and get a drill chuck. For right now I just want to start playing with it. Lathe tools are coming in the mail tomorrow!

That works too.
I made one out of plexiglass to use with my A-34 jigsaw. It had a bit of flex but not too bad, plywood should be better than plastic.
When I got my second 10ER it came with another A-34 jigsaw and that one came with the table insert.
