I have a cradle that's being WAITING to be completed for SEVEN YEARS. So before I stain it, I'm going to sand it with 150 grit sandpaper. Is that course enough to start with or should I start with 100 grit?
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

150 should do the job! A lot of sanding though. Also 150 should be enough for stain, at least Watco stains. They can also serve as a finish after a week or so drying time. Pay attention to the directions on the label.
If you are going to put on a finish. You can always sand the finish to finer grits.
