Bandsaw Table - How to enlarge?

Post by milo_the_lumbarbarian »

Has anyone successfully enlarged the size of your Bandsaw table? Have you replaced it with a homemade one, covered your current table with an insert type arrangements, or added to your current table?

Any advice is always appreciated, as are links!

Thanks!

WHICH BS table are you asking about? IF the cast iron, here's one way.

SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders, molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

Check out how Nick Engler used the main and extension tables to effectively create a huge bandsaw table:

This owner did a major mod to his table, replacing it first with wood and then with metal plate. http://www.crenshawweb.com/texastele/ttp04.htm

I found the table on the band saw is not really adequate for my needs. Its too small and doesn't offer enough versatility in jigging and clamping. This is my solution. Works really well and is rock stable for resawing.

Here is a thread that shows how I expand the table size on my bandsaw.

If you have a shopsmith with the ability to do so you can create a pretty big work area with out much effort.
