Which model do I own????

Post by Funbilly »

I have a Mark 5 Greenie with serial # 296300 that I matched up on Shop Smith web site to show it was made between 1953 and 1960. Mine being a 1955. But my plate showing serial # does not show what model I have. Is it a 510 ?? Please advise, thanks !!

It is a Mark 5 (Greenie) 'period'.

When SS Inc. resurected it, it was still a Mark 5.

Later when the 505/510 models were introduced the models were changed to Mark V 500(the original Mark 5), the Mark V 505(striped down version of a 510) and the Mark V 510(which was redesigned shortly thereafter). The Mark V 520 was introduced a few years later and more recently the Mark 7(not to be confused with an earlier model produced in the 1960s by a predecessor corporation 'Magna American', the Mark VII).

Yes it got confusing. Not helped by SS not being entirely historically 'accurate'. 5/V V/7 oph!!!!

Thank you for the info.
My table saw mounting piece is cracked and I am looking on eBay for a replacement. I see different models can use other model accessories. I see some of the mounts have a hand crank wheel to adjust the table height. Mine "the Greenie" just has a lever sticking out to adjust it. Will any other table mounts be compatible with the Greenie Mark 5?
Thanks again.
I am needing to purchase

Can you take a picture? My greenie is a model 500. If you have a model 500 I do have a spare carriage I'd let go of.

ANY Mark 5(Greenie/Goldie/gray) or Mark V 500 will fit. Wheels appear with the 505/510/520/7(different carriage).

I'm trying to figure out how to display pics.
If it is the correct one, how much are you asking for it?
And how much to ship it to Texas 76244 ?
Thanks RICHARD

Funbilly,

Tbh this came off a greenie that was given to me by a lady that thought it was broken.

You can have it for the cost if shipping. Between upgrading to a 510 table system and some of my other acquisitions, this will simply collect dust on my shelf.

2 points to mention:

No height adjustment lock. The pinion gear movement is there though. It just don't lock.

It looks as if someone repaired a crack at some point in this machine's history. I never even noticed it until I cleaned it off to put in a box for you.

I've posted photos . if you still want it, let me know. I'll get a price for shipping to you

PS. To post photos, under submit there should be two blue links. Check upload attachments. Only pictures less than 1084 pixels in any direction will work.

I am not a very computer savvy person, and a bit confused with the "posting pictures "
I tried sending 2 pics earlier and I see they didn't send.
How do I know how many pixels I have? And how do I lower the pixels to be able to send them??? I'm sorry,,,, I just don't know how to do it lol
