Nick Engler's Paint Brush Cleaning Recipe

I thought I remembered Nick Engler having a recipe for cleaning old paint brushes. Does anyone else remember if this is so, and where I can find it?

In his, The Workshop Companion series, the book, Finishing, page 74.

If you allow finish to harden
on a brush, don't throw it away! You
can save it by soaking it in paint
remover. Or, make a super brush
cleaner by mixing 2 parts toluol or
xylol, 1 part acetone, and 1 part dena-
tured alcohol. Let the brush soak in
the cleaner overnight, and comb the
hardened finish out of the bristles.
Rinse the brush in fresh cleaner, then
wash it out with soap and water.

I would think the method would depend on whether the brush was used with latex or oil finish. You didn't specify.

This is a great method for cleaning paint brushes used for oil based paints. He's got a lot of other interesting videos too.
