Annoyance With Lower Saw Guard Hardware

The knurled knobs and star washers on my lower saw guard have an uncanny knack for ending up on the floor. Am I the only one? What's the solution?

Mine have a flat washer between the knob and the "internal" star washer. I don't know if that is relevant to the problem, but I'm not having any issues with them getting loose.

Tighten them every time you use the saw.

Slip a spring over the stud. It will put enough tension/ friction to keep the nuts from backing off yet you can tighten against the spring.

Had the same issue Ed. I always discovered the issue as an unknown object would go rattling up the vac hose. I solved the problem with nyloc wing nuts. Haven't lost one since.

Ooh, I like both the spring and nylock wing nut ideas!! Putting these on my list of things to get next time I'm at the hardware store! Assume the stud is 1/4 x 20 but does anyone know for sure?
