The chatroom requires Java to run. Here is where you can get it:

I hate addin's!!!!!!!!!!
They seem so harmless and then they come back and bite you. I wish SS would be careful not to require them.

I'm in the same frustration room with Dusty. Yes, I am sure I have Version 6, Update 7 of Java.

I can easily watch Nick's test Video where he says - if we are watching this, we are fully equipped.

However the lower screen (Which is mostly white) had the following in the upper left hand corner of that area - "Java Chat Software" Clicking on those words takes me to a space where there is a bunch of gobbleydegook about getting a thing called "addonCHAT V.8"

Sorry! that's just too much computer crap for me!

BTW - I found absolutely no place to sign in!!!!!!!

It's NOT SS that requires a newer Java. It's the software their're trying out to have MORE people to be able to watch it as it happens.

New Chat Room Software

Post by dusty »

I have loaded and reloaded Java and I still have the same problem. I have slightly different symptoms than some. I actually get to a login screen for the chat room. When this screen shows, which is after a delay while it loads, the login screen displays my username and a button for login.

When I click on the login button - I get notified of a server error.

Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for. But this is no way to develop/retain a loyal following.

beeg is correct. The chat room requires java to run. We are trying this new chat out, because the previous chat room was experiencing numerous problems. We even think it may have been the cause of the server going down during the last sawdust session.

If you are experiencing problems, try the java download:
http://www.java.com/en/

In the test chat that Nick posted, you can enter any username.

I have had and used Java for months. Nonetheless, I did a download per previous recommendation. No Luck.

As I said in an earlier post (post #12), I get a login screen but when I enter my username and login, I get a server error.

I hope you have some good luck because I sure am not.
