New England Woodworking Show
The New England woodworker show starts Jan. 22, 2016. I know SS won't be an exhibitor, but will any of the exhibitors have stuff that will fit on my favorite machine? I mean other than glue, sandpaper and stain, stuff like that.

I did not see anything Shopsmith specific last year. Go anyway Gary. I wouldn't miss it. I find it t be the best ten bucks a woodworker can spend. Your ticket is good for all 3 days. The free sessions can be excellent. However, they also have sessions that require payment. I paid $50 for a session that was a complete dud, IMHO. I won't bother with that again.
The flea market aspects are fun too. I picked up a bag of 100 drawer pulls for $10. Know your prices, or have a smart phone with you so you can look things up.

Really good timing. Now you can replenish that bag of 100 drawer pulls.tomsalwasser wrote:I did not see anything Shopsmith specific last year. Go anyway Gary. I wouldn't miss it. You're right Dusty! I usually pay $1.79 for 2 at Ace. I make a lot of dressers and go through a fair amount of drawer pulls.dusty wrote: Really good timing. Now you can replenish that bag of 100 drawer pulls.

Well, I went to the show with a friend. The main activity seemed to be wood turning although some aftermarket items for table saws were there, too. We attended one seminar showing how to put CA finish on pens. We were surprised by the low attendance but apparently weather forecasters had convinced folks that the killer blizzard would get them in Springfield. Not so. By one pm the attendance was a lot better. I did contact the local wood turning club and may go visit although it is an hour's drive away. I'm just curious to see the reaction when I tell them my lathe is a Shopsmith!
I did not buy any drawer pulls but I did see a bunch of them.

i was planning on going BUT the blizzard hit us pretty good on the shoreline of CT 12"+ of snow so the hour drive wasn't going to be worth it...theres always next year

There's another in NJ on 2/19-21 (about 90 min. from the Tapanzee) just off I-287 in Somerset. I've kept missing it every year, so I'm going to give it a shot this year.

I also was stuck in southeast connecticut. New Jersey might be to long a hike!

I was there Saturday morning, can't really express much of a valued opinion on it, as I just ordered my ShopSmith Friday, and have yet to learn much. I did enjoy it, Turning did seem to be the major event, demonstration wise, also saw 2 different displays on making box/dovetail joints on/with routers. I was thinking that maybe by next year I would at least know, what I don't know. Did run into the storm on the return trip on the Mass Pike. Saw a really cool laser engraver, if I only had an extra $13,000 or so hanging around LOL.
