Squaring PVC Pipe Ends

Working on a project the requires nice square ends on PVC pipe. Came up with this jig.

Is that a rotary tool?
Trim router but a rotary tool would work too.

I gotta ask .. why not use a 12" sanding disk and a miter gauge fence on your SS?

Or a large enough sliding miter saw. (12inch Dewalt)

The safety grip has a capacity of 4 1/4 inches. The outside diameter of 4 inch PVC is 4 1/2 inches.

I do not have the luxury of owning any of the other machines mentioned but why bother, they would take all the fun out of making the jig :)

Ahh.

I remove the clamp bar from the safety grip when using the miter gauge with tall items. And also when installing my rather tall shop-made miter extension, although I can put it back on after the extension is in place. Just one set screw to loosen, and the "Shopsmith tool kit" fits it. ;)

Yes, all alternative suggestions aside, it was informative to see original thinking and to have it shared!!!
