Mark 5 Restoration - Tri-60 Project!

You got the idea, but that quadrant gear arm is horizontal.

The 'dot' is the same location on the arm in all three views.

The '+' is the location of the bearing center.

Views are 6,9,12 o'clock setting of the wide part of the eccentric.

Spoke with Don Horne in Whittier, CA today, great guy. Sending him my two Speed Control Knobs to be restored to factory original +! Man, it's nice to have a forum with connections! Thank you Bill Mayo for posting his info!

Speed Control handles back from Don Horne...1 week total time from the day I mailed them! Excellent job, like new (only better!) I would highly recommend him!

'62 Headstock finished except for warning decal...now I can polish all the tubes and move to the '56.

Beautiful work. It looks great. One question, Why did you paint it as a Gernie when it began life as a Goldie? I don't think there were any '62 Grenies.

Ha! You're absolutely correct. (Kinda thought I would spark a "traditionalist" or two to chime in!) I apologize for the unconventional drift! I actually had a few reasons, albeit none that "justifies" the crime!

Here we go, for what it's worth:

1. I wanted to do a "test run" on the Greenie colors before I did my father's Greenie.

2. I didn't want to buy four different colors of paint! (Kinda lame huh!)

3. I thought it would be cool to have a pair of matched Mark 5's, despite the "generation" difference.

OK, at least you have a legitimate reason. Again a great job.

I think you did a fantastic job on the restoration and I don't believe it would run any better or be any more reliable if it was a 'Goldie'. Is it mechanically consistent with its serial number.

And yes, internally it is still a Goldie through and through...(not counting the quadrant assy bolt and steel Speed Control handle gear!)
