I was cleaning and moving stuff around and planning future things I want to do there if I ever get the immediate stuff all done. Like probably too many of us I have a tough time keeping non-woodshop stuff out of the shop. That much open floor space just invites "stuff" in.
I had cleared a spot for the Shopsmith that is to be "mostly" a dedicated lathe. I picked a spot near the door to the outside because of the natural light there, my only natural light in the basement. That SS had my SS bandsaw sitting just stored at the left end and I was thinking about what other SPT's I need to find proper homes for.
OK, Bandsaw, jigsaw, a SS jointer I kept (just in case) and my SS 6" belt sander. 6" Belt sander??? Where is it? Having a good sized shop (24'x40') in no way means that it isn't cluttered.
After an excess amount of time looking under / behind / above about everything in the shop I walked over and leaned on the workbench and saw it... Yep, sitting right there on the left end of a seldom used SS sitting in a corner where a long shelf board had gotten leaned up in front of the belt sander...
(Shrug)
Go ahead reserve my spot at "the home".
