Re: Dewalt Hot Melt Glue Gun
I will do a review but it might be a while yet. I just ordered the glue sticks today so it could well be a week to 10 days before they arrive. Ordering from a new to me place so no experience with them.
As a reference they are in the order of $.80 per stick. I know, here goes the price shock thing again. The price is to my door, the sticks plus shipping etc. I went with 5 packages of 6 each so that will be a total of 30 sticks to play with.
As of now the plan is to use only the STANLEY TOOLS Hot Glue GS500 in this gun. I have other guns so that is not a problem.

That looks like you could cook hot dogs with that. LOL. It looks like it had ought to work good keep us posted on its use. Does it take a special glue stick and will you have to order them all the time?
Re: Dewalt Hot Melt Glue Gun
There are from what I know 3 sizes of glue sticks, two of those are more of a standard and a third a bit of an oddity. This takes the larger of the more standard size. The next part of the equation is the type of glue. This was my sticking point or rather un-sticking point.
My brother got me a glue gun the Christmas after I got back from Nam, 1971. I have since gotten a gun style and a two smaller craft type stick pushers. I was not impressed with the hold they had on wood. Another member here mentioned using hot melt glue to hold things for turning....... so long story made short I'm reevaluating hot melt glue based on this new to me version which is from what I heard a much better glue then the normal run of the mill stuff.
I have not found that woodworking glue sticks at my local stores so I did a little pricing online and order a quantity. If I love it then I will take more time to see where else I might be able to buy it and if I can find a better price.
I have high hopes.

Re: Dewalt Hot Melt Glue Gun
Where I worked we built die cast machines. They used a glue gun to apply the labels on the control panels. It was some kind of expoy and once stuck on you had to beat the heck out of them to get them off. Usually the tags would break up when taking them off the rebuilt machines
Re: Dewalt Hot Melt Glue Gun
Well I'd like to test out my glue gun and sticks today on a project I'm working on but the sticks have yet to arrive. It has been a week which isn't too long but in this day and age that is pretty long. I ordered several things that day and all the rest are already here. I did another order the day after and it was here yesterday.
I guess I should have used amazon and my "free shipping" which is also 2 day free shipping so they would have been here already.
For those happy prime users who might be Dr. Who fans the restarted series if there for free. I have gotten to episode 8 already, they are not new to me but it is nice to see them again. I also enjoyed the whole X Files run a short while back. I don't rent or buy but there is plenty of free stuff there and since I use an antenna and don't pay for cable it gives me another source of entertainment on my own terms.
Well it is early yet, we haven't gotten today's mail yet there is still hope but I think I'll have to use another method then hot glue for this project.

Glue sticks arrived today. Didn't melt any but I did put one in the gun to make sure it fit and it does. Wish it had gotten here yesterday but it didn't so now I have to come up with another first use. Maybe just a simple test???

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Re: Dewalt Hot Melt Glue Gun
I just got a new to me error:
"General Error
You are not allowed to access this file."
When I posted a response. Hmmmm
So take two on this.
Yes it is a label maker. I'm redoing my hand scrawled tape labels with nice label maker labels. This is the batch I just finished:
I was just out in Plano today and should have stopped at the outlet and got another box like these for the glue gun. Oh well I'll be out there again soon as I'm checking on a place where owls nest to see if they come back this season. So far not.
