In my Documents list in Windows 7 as well as on my desktop I have folders. To easily access them visually I use icons (.ico files), e.g., anything Shopsmith has their logo, eBay has theirs, etc. I have a folder containing a list of ico (icon) files as well.
There is a simple procedure for converting jpg files to ico files and then for changing a folder to that icon on your desktop or in document folders elsewhere. If there is an interest in this procedure I can post it here as a pdf file.

Linux Mint does the same thing except it wants the files in .png format instead of .ico
Re: Computer Tip That Might Interest Some of You
That is because the .ico format is a proprietary MS format isn't it?garys wrote:Linux Mint does the same thing except it wants the files in .png format instead of .ico

.ico appears to be the format Microsoft uses, but I see it used everywhere on the web to display favicons on sites, so it isn't restricted just to Windows use.jsburger wrote:

.png appears to be more of an open format, so that is likely why Linux distributions chose to use it.

Okay, I'll put something together and post HERE, not as a separate post. So, if your are interested look HERE.wa2crk wrote:Indeed, proceed.

Since Linux has a separate requirement I can't help but perhaps a Linux user can.
