Local craigslist ad for a jointer and scrollsaw for $100 each. Now I have a Magna jointer and Jigsaw but both needed parts and major cleaning. The scrollsaw and jointer I just picked up look like new and are later models.
Now I have to sell off some of my excess stuff before I am allowed to get anything else...unless of course it is a really good deal and I can keep my wife from finding out.

Take it from someone who has been married to the same woman for several decades, you really do not want to do that. You will lose in the long haul.Steamdragon wrote:Local craigslist ad for a jointer and scrollsaw for $100 each. Now I have a Magna jointer and Jigsaw but both needed parts and major cleaning. And the old buy now and apologize later works maybe once... If you're lucky!dusty wrote:Take it from someone who has been married to the same woman for several decades, you really do not want to do that. The problem with screaming bargains on Craigslist is that you have to act (and quickly) when they pop up -- you simply can't wait until all your ducks are in a row and the stars are all in alignment. So without further ado, I refer you to this thread, which will then take you to a site with some hilarious strategies for navigating the potential spousal issues.

Re: Too Good to Pass Up
I was going to post here a bit b4 like some of the last ones. Here is why I am very happy and content, no wife, no need to ask permission, or forgiveness, I dont need to hide money, make up lies/excuses to buy something, or a wife to do my laundry, cooking and cleaning. I guess that may make me a selfish person, and yes as a bachelor I have no one to rely on in house, but I have many friends that I can.
I know many here have been married for decades, and fine, this is my point of view on marriage, if it offends/upsets you, get a helmet, life is tough, when you have to compromise/bargain/deceive your spouse to get what you want or need thats not happiness, thats spousal control. They live on Venus and I am on Mars, and I like it that way.
I know some of it is also man talk/banter about wives.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Well, absolutely none of that is true between me and my wife so I guess maybe it depends on weather you each truly love each other.ERLover wrote:I was going to post here a bit b4 like some of the last ones. Re: Too Good to Pass Up
Just for the record my wife is OK with my purchases. She knows that I only get extreme bargains and if I am getting a new something it is either I don't have it and will need it or it is way better than what I have.
She got to witness the versatility of the unit tonight while I predrilled and then counter sunk 800 some odd holes for a project we are both involved with.
She was colored slightly impressed.
