Don't you just hate it when......
Your trying to make small mitered frames with expensive hardwood and your only off on the miter gauge by .375 degrees.

Re: Don't you just hate it when......
Only .375 degrees is HUGE on miters because you have to multiply that by eight to get 3 degrees error on the eight cuts that you make for a picture frame! You really need to have a miter guage error of less than 0.1 degrees which will result in a frame error of less than 1 degree.
Re: Don't you just hate it when......
OR
Was the WHOLE thing only off by 0.385 degrees?? Each of the cuts off by ONLY .048! Presuming again a rectangle.
And, if we consider the actual width of the material, after all he did state "small" mitered frames. Maybe it wasn't SOOOO bad....
why? Because...
Be well,
Ben

Sweat it not, the one on the left is 'virtual'. i.e. no shadow! Besides that they be one legged.rjent wrote:

Maybe serious bird on the left is virtual but there is a deep hole behind which could be camouflaging the shadow. The friend who sent this picture to me (I added the words) says they are in the desert and in the morning they switch from one leg to the other due to the cold temperature. I am not certain but I "think" he took that picture. That or it was one of his photography buddies.JPG wrote:

"Tilty" on the right was my avatar when I was playing on line poker (before using real money became illegal).
I would ask him about the reality and validity of the picture, however cancer wanted him more.

I think the photos are real. Birds like to do this head twist thing to gain depth perception, improve hearing. It is like when we are trying to determine how far away something is we often move to another vantage point to gain the same information. Right now I can't remember the term for it but perhaps later it will come to me. Or maybe someone else remembers it?

Re: Don't you just hate it when......
I dont think so, at best the shadow is in the depression, how could one be to the side and one to the rear if both are in the same pic.rpd wrote:I think there are two shadows,JPG wrote:Sweat it not, the one on the left is 'virtual'. i.e. no shadow! Besides that they be one legged.rjent wrote:
Huh, would that be considered table tilt or arbor tilt?the shorter shadow to the rear belongs to the "horizontal" bird and the longer closer shadow belongs to the "vertical" bird.
I take that back, if you look at the length of the shadow on the right bird, the left bird should have some on the bird on the right.
