It looks like they were offered in the 50's and 90's.
Hi Bob,
I learned a few things from that web site. Thanks.

Just interested in actual user experience. If anyone has used this with a nail gun, if it gets overly hot after running for a while, if it requires oil/lubrication(i suppose I can read the manual for that) and if folks use an external air tank with it to run a brad/finish nailer--for example.

I think I heard this maxes out at 100psi.

Thanks for any specific user feedback.

Oh yes, can I get a replacement fitting and use a standard air hose (purchase from Lowes or Home Depot)?

Is there an inexpensive way to use the nailer such as buy a cheap air tank? That would be a much quieter process I would think.
Mine is really loud. What I usually do is to charge a tank and run whatever I want from there.

It also gets very hot as well.

So this appears to have been more of a novelty then functional/useful accessory and thus why they only made it available for a few catalog runs.

I like the concept...and suppose if you have a seperate tank that would work. HOWEVER--if you have to work with a seperate tank and use this to fill it--then why bother trying to find a used one and just buy a whole seperate air compressor with tank anyway?

Looks like a collector's item is what will drive the need.

What do you all think a used 90's version is worth?

Just found one for $20 with a pressure regulator, hose, and coupling. How bout' that for a deal!

I will probably get a portable tank for it so I can use it around the shop to blow out dust, 'greenie' restoration, and maybe a nail gun in the future.

Hey folks! I see no one has posted to this thread for quite a while, but I'm hoping someone pays attention just the same.
I purchased the ShopSmith air compressor recently, and it works just fine for what I want - running an air nailer. Yes, the whole thing is loud, but the convenience of having a compressor in my shop makes up for that. (My other compressor lives outside in the garage, and would be a beast to lug into and out of my basement shop).
I just pulled off the end cap on mine, to clean off the air filter - and discovered that it HAS NO air filter element!
Does anyone know if the air filter can still be obtained for this thing? (I may simply buy a sponge type filter for an air conditioner, and cut a piece to fit.)
Thanks in advance!

Thanks - I checked Campbell Hausfeld, but not surprisingly couldn't find the equivalent unit.
We'll see how this stuff works for the same purpose:
