Ahh, but the old ones slipped! ;)

So look at the end of the rod with the wing clamp handle(78) with the clamp 'tightened'. There should be threads remaining('78' NOT bearing against the wedge(51)).

Also you should not be able to move the assembly(50 - 79) in/out when pushing/pulling from the handle(78) end.

If this does not help identify the cause of slipping, we will need pix.

It is doing the very same thing it did with the old locks on it. could there be a problem with the way bars?

It is doing the very same thing it did with the old locks on it. could there be a problem with the way bars? and yes there is thread showing nd I can move it back and fourth.

I have not had this problem, I am also not a SS eat and sleep guy like some here that have posted here. I am guessing as some posted here, there is a fine adjustment on the other side to get to a happy medium of locked and not locked in place without slipping, or you do not have wedges internally in there proper position to lock against the tubes.

There is no 'adjustment' on the headstock lock, but both wedges must press equally against the inner sides of the way tubes.

I doubt it, unless maybe you sprayed them up with supper slippery Silicone dry lube.
