Well Ed maybe the meds, I went to SS site>Products> Drilling, clicked on it, drop down opened, 3rd down, chuck and key purchasing options. Left side of the page and you have to click on the Arrow, not the product category to get the drop down, sub products in that category.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them. :)

Yes, I've had problems with the search engine, growing worse over the last couple of weeks.

Yesterday I rebuilt the search index from scratch. During this rebuild (an hour or so), items that hadn't been re-added to the index yet, would not show in the search results (which may explain, some of what was seen differently than what is seen now). The rebuild did NOT fix the real problem, I will be checking further into what has gone wrong.

While everyone is thinking about search, though, I'd like to ask a questions. Someone had mentioned segmented (or faceted) search to narrow results. Any suggestions on what types of segmenting would be useful to you on Shopsmith's product selection?

I often find trying to get what shopsmith calls something is half the solution.

This is how I got to the results I did, just doing this so it is clear how it works. Keep in mind the request was for using a search to find a product.

First from the home page or any other page that displays the "Products" header go to the "search" function.

You then have a choice of where to search as seen here:

Now you can enter the "search" item and if you had searched under "all" you end up with 626 results. "Website and Products" 547 results, "shopsmith website" 545 results. Way to many to look through to find the item you wanted so the best category is "products" where you have 2 results.

You can do the rest of the places if you want to but since in this case per the information in the first post the search was for a drill chuck key to order then the product search is the best place to look.

FYI "shopsmith forums" has 76 results when I looked last.

Ed I entered the same words and get everything but, however I didn't enter "products" I searched the whole site, I guess I am not used to having to be so specific I did use in Google "site: Shopsmith.com replacement drill chuck key" and found it at the Shopsmith page immediately, why doesn't it work that we'll if you go direct? Who knows.

The recent problem with the search engine is now corrected (and does find "drill chuck key" again :D ).

There are times I miss that we use "Shopsmith Lingo" to describe things, missing more common names. If you notice the common name not working for our search, leave the info in a reply in this thread and I'll see what I can do to improve it.
