Can anybody take a pic of the inside of their strip sander?
I took some things apart to clean the one I recently picked up as it was crusty. Wonder which way a guard goes.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Thanks! Any idea why the guard with the arrow would be on that side. Doesn't seem to make sense.

That is so you can use that wheel in the alternate upper position, when sanding on both sides of the platen. Maybe someone has a photo of that idler wheel in the upper position (kinda close to the #12 arrow)

I have the manual in my cart. I was gonna add a combination blade but decided to drop 3 Shopsmith blades and a Forrest blade at the sharpening place instead for cheaper. Now, do I really need that 16 foot clear vacuum hose? Hmm

If you buy the clear hose you will not be disappointed.

The guard is merely 'stored' with the idler mounted there.ibskot wrote:Thanks! Any idea why the guard with the arrow would be on that side. Doesn't seem to make sense.
The guard makes sense when mounted in the upper position.

I second Chuck's enthusiasm for the 16' foot clear hose. Also, I have split black plastic hoses by stepping on them. Not a problem for the clear plastic hose and I'm no light-weight!charlese wrote:If you buy the clear hose you will not be disappointed.

Interestingly, the guard is reversed 180 degrees in the parts list diagram. I wonder why that is.

Indeed! I would have taken a pix of mine, but it also is not OEM assembled.ibskot wrote:Interestingly, the guard is reversed 180 degrees in the parts list diagram. I wonder why that is.
My recollection is that it was in the way of installing the belt oriented the 'parts list diagram way'.
I think it another example of graphics folks taking liberty(or just not knowing). Everett knows of what I speak of here. His embellished diagrams are a vast improvement.
