Did 4 cuts and decided to return the table to the original mount leaving the table slightly tilted down towards the infeed side. This makes the cut start at the bottom. Wouldn't it be better to have the table tilted back a little since you are looking at the top to follow your line while the blade is cutting ahead of the line?
Still had the movement problem so having tried to loosten the back screw (very large flat slot) and no way to get purchase on the nut - LOOK AWAY:eek: THIS ISN'T PRETTY -I cut away the plastic surrounding the lock nut then was able to remove it using a prybar in the screw head and 9/16" wrench. The pivot bracket had corrosion on the inside edge rubbing against the plastic runner (under the miter gauge) and behind rubbing against the side of the case. No way to get at it.
To reinstall, I put one extra large flat washer under the plastic runner like it is on the infeed side so the bracket is no longer rubbing along the surface of the bandsaw like it was before making it much easier to move once you loosten the hold down. I may get a new runner for that side but I don't have a micro-thin socket to tighten the lock nut with.
And this is only my third day as a Shopsmith owner.
