WHAT A CHORE - It has never been so hard!

Post by dusty »

I just put my Early Voting Ballot in the mail. I do not recall there ever being a voting challenge as great as this one was. I distrust most of the published information about the candidates and the issues. This makes it really hard to establish an informed opinion about anything or anyone.

But, I voted! I am not sure that is a good thing given the state of confusion and deception but - I voted. Now we wait and see what the damages are.

I mailed mine a couple of weeks ago. For me, the decisions were easy. Do I want change or more of the mess we have now? It can't get any easier than that.

What we have today is the direct result of too many election cycles having gone by without the peoples' voice being heard.

A Government of the People and By the People is a Government of the past. This nation has gotten too big, too ugly and too greedy to be controlled "By the People".

The HAVES have control never to be returned to "The People".

I voted also. To me it was very easy Abortion. I will not be found guilty of supporting abortion in any shape or form.

My considered opinion only. Early voting for President is unconstitutional. The Constitution states that election day is the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Early voting for state candidates may be OK but not for POTUS. Suppose someone votes for a candidate four weeks before the election and the candidate disqualifies themselves before the actual election how does a voter reconsider? They can't!! So the early votes are locked in and the voters have no way of reconsidering their decision.

Sorry! I posted the above a few minutes ago. I attempted to research the info and seem to find the only reference to The Tuesday after the first Monday may be in Title 3 Us Code and not the Constitution. My apologies. However voting for president on any other day still may be a violation of Federal Law because I could not find any revision to the statute.

I don't know about it being unconstitutional or not. We have gotten into a bad habit of calling something we don't like "unconstitutional" when the Constitution says nothing about the subject.

What I do wish would not happen is reporting the trending results before the polls close. Example: I heard yesterday that Trump leads Clinton by 2% in Florida early voting. First of all, it is very inconclusive but secondly and more importantly (to me) is hearing that may influence votes that have not yet been cast.

I don't know but they (main street media) do make a lot of noise about the election being rigged. Do they care?

Well will wonders never cease. - Dusty initiated a political thread.

Early voting? Absentee ballots are AIUI counted AFTER the 'normal' votes.

As far as I am concerned all this poll taking is simply used to create confusion that shouldn't matter, but is being used to skew later actual voting.

Personally I answer all polls with you will see answers on Wednesday after the election. Nothing else is relevant.

Why is it anyone's business what my opinion is prior to an election.

I recall a 'survey' from Bill Clinton's folks that wanted to know what I thought of him as a 'leader'. My response was that leaders do not take opinion polls prior to making any decisions.
