Re: New Member Here...
To assist with instructions on how to load images it might be important to know which Board Style do you use. There are four to chose from: shopsmith, shopsmith1, prosilver and subsilver2. They are all similar but are also different.
I prefer prosilver.
A sample screen shot from there which shows the screen where images are selected for posting.

The maximum size that a photo can be is also a consideration. If your photo is too large, you'll get a hard to notice error message near the top of the posting page. I forget the exact size limits, but I did find this in a previous thread:
"...the "new limit" seems to have been adjusted to 2050 x 1180 but the upper limit size wise is still 2MB..."

Re: New Member Here...
Hey guys and thanks. Lots to absorb here. Will work on it the next day or two. Tomorrow over to the wife’s craft sale. Jewelry of course, but nice. Made a fold-up display rack for the earrings. Turned out pretty decent. Far better than my usual rustic. I blame that on the Shopsmith. Will try and get a picture or two and make that my project. Over and out.

Re: New Member Here...
Is there time for Movies? Just trying to keep up and have some fun along the way. Picture postings worked like a charm. Thanks to everyone pitching in. I posted the Earring Display Rack over at October Projects. Kind of seemed like that's where it should go. Certainly not worth its own thread. I will post one here. Will call it "Digging in the Dirt". Actually September's Project. Beginning of a Ground Source Heat Pump loop. Will probably occupy most of the winter, getting it together. Jeff
Re: New Member Here...
I am building a house in NE Tn and the geo thermal heat pump is the way I am looking at going. the land will let me go with the ground loop and the excavation costs me nothing. the winters can see 15 to 20 below so IMHO it is the only way to go. would like to pick your brain more on this.

Re: New Member Here...
Does it get that cold there? Wow, we definitely live in the banana belt up here. Sometimes the rain is even warm. The ground source heat pump as the energy source does offer some positives. But before you go there look at the construction details. Insulate, air-seal, low-E windows to name a couple. Consider Heat Recovery Ventilation (exhausting air from bathrooms, kitchen and re-introducing air in living areas, across a heat exchanger), can save 30% of heating (and cooling) load. The best thing you can do for your HVAC is minimize the requirements, then all kinds of possibilities open up. There has never been a better time to build in terms of energy efficient construction. Smaller HVAC and smaller utility bills, all good things, and quieter too. The Building Science is there, but in my experience it is just the contractors and most architects that are not. Mostly owner driven. Payouts can be pretty decent if details are decided prior to the bid package. Change orders, not so much. Oops need to get off the Soap Box. Lots on the internet for sure, maybe too much. I can PM you my website when I figure that part out. Website mostly deals with the Load side, moving heat (and cooling) within the residence but does have a pretty good section on heat pump theory as relates to ground source. Also a downloadable Excel spreadsheet lets you look at different fuel options. At this point the most important part might under “More...Other Resources”. This points you toward references that I have found helpful. If building new construction you really have some advantages over the rest of us. Over and out (maybe not Out). Jeff

Re: New Member Here...
With a typical winter frost line at 12" I would think that what we see in the photo is more than deep enough.
If not plastic pipe, what would you use? Remember, we are talking about several thousand feet of pipe. Now one might want to think twice about buying the cheapest pipe available in the Big Box.
