jigsaw blades needed

Post by squidsct53 »

My dad needs replacement blades for his Shopsmith jigsaw. Any info on suitable blades will be greatly appreciated. The part #'s he gave me don't hit on the Shopsmith site, probably 'cause they quit making the jigsaws in about 1987. I don't have a manual and haven't been able to get hold of him with the following questions.
Does the jigsaw have two pins for blade holding or single pin bottom and allen head tightener on top?
Shopsmith customer service says 5 inch flat blades from Olson or Delta may work, but I need to know the pin size and TPI recommended for tight radius softwood cutting?

The old jigsaw and the newer scroll saw use standard 5" blades without pins. Hope this helps.

Maybe the attached PDF will help on your blade selection. There is another brand called "Flying Dutchman". I use these and they are excellent blades. You can find them at:
