I think you might have stumbled upon a method for getting tailstock stuck in the base over in another thread unstuck.
Dont know about the quill one, I have not read that one.
BTW what did you do to get that pesky quill shaft moving?
Did the tail stock thread, I have read the whole thing, I hope he knows enough to loosen the set screws, I guess someone told him to do it though.

That was my nephews $10.00 ER, long story, over at his girl friend, bad brake up, a real clinger/insecure/jealousy issues ect. He just got some of his stuff out of there. That is still there minus the motor and a few of the parts. Plus at I was at moms most of the time I did not have a chance to work on it, and his girl friend did not like me because I saw her BS.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Long enough for me to forget how you got it unstuck. I seem to recall it was heat. Not sure though.

Tried with just Butane, not a touch, gave away my Acetylene just be for that when I moved. Academic now, his old G friend has it, I got 3 ERs, he has one for a lathe, so the one at the X is a lost puppy, but have the motor and parts for it.
