Acute observation as always JPG. That's what I found when I removed the old mantle piece. To make it really bizarre there is a header for the fireplace the in the entire horizontal path of the nail holes ??? Not sure what he was looking for.

Managed to get a few hours in the shop yesterday and managed to get the TV mounting fixture completed and installed. Today it's mount the TV and run the wires. Need to get the TV off the floor before all the little cherubs arrive for BBQ.

More progress over the weekend. But complicated by pesky visitors. My daughter and son in law came over from CA to give us a present which was a framed picture of my daughters ultrasound. It appears we have our first grandchild in the making ! The visit prompted my wife to install the shelving and decorate prematurely so now it all has to be removed to continue adding coats of finish. Did make progress though. Got the ebony caps made and installed on the two outside verticals and finished the top piece of the center section which was the last peice to have the zebra wood accent. Today it's off to the fabric store to get the speaker cloth and that plus a little mounding work will finish off the woodworking. We are waiting on the mirror which goes above the mantle. That should arrive next week.

Interesting use of plastic bags as accent pieces! :D

Which cubbies are the speakers going to reside in?

Today was finishing off the project. Except for the mirror and about 10 more coats of finish it is done. Today was make the cove moulding, get it installed and complete the speaker cover. Joanne's Fabric had the speaker cloth and they also give a veterans discount which is always nice. The mirror will be in next week. The boss is done with the drawings for the next project so next is a " makeup vanity ".
