I've noticed some are machining their quill casing to install a rear bearing. I've been thinking, since I can't find a bearing that will press in without machining, about getting a bronze oil impregnated bushing machined for this upgrade. The cost would be in the $30 to $40 range, that beats the $180 price hands down. And, it will keep run out at a minimum without weakening the casing.
I would like to get other opinions/thoughts on upgrading the quill this way.
Thanks, KEn

I would say it is ill-advised. Quality and precision not there with oilite bushing.
