Redleg

I received and installed the rack you sent me. I found the powerhead cranked pretty hard. The rack lined up with the original good on the top but was about 3/32" wide on the bottom. Did some checking and found it was dragging on the belt cover. I took a sharp chisel and removed about 3/32" from the bottom of the rack. Now it cranks pretty well except a little tight in a couple of spots. I think time will take care of that. Thanks again!!

Is the rack centered in the belt cover 'notch'?

James, it is now. Since redleg had already drilled the pop-rivet holes in the rack, and the holes were already in the way tube, I didn't have much choice. Luckily the new rack pretty much lined up on the top and I had some excess on the bottom. :) Glad it wan't necessary to remove some on top and bottom. I may end up having to relieve the belt cover notch a little but only as a last resort.

James

I failed to mention I tried that. Loosened the two set screws, used penetrating oil to no avail. Could not budge the way tube, a pipe wrench was out of the question so decided to take a little off the bottom. The belt guard still rubs in a couple of places, but I can live with that.

Maybe you should have fixed that issue first.

I am not sure what you mean by
Maybe you should have fixed that issue first.
---
The reason I initially tried to turn the way tube was so I could drill out the remnants of the original pop rivets, since I could not turn the tube so I simply punched them out with a 1/8" punch.

I don't have a clue what issue you refer to? Enlighten me?

Thanks John

I was sure that was what you were talking about but you never know. This morning I made a so called clamp with a couple of scraps attached some 80 grit sand paper on the faces, clamped them together on the way tube and successfully got it "Free". Turned it about 1/16", problem solved. The belt guard now does not drag. The way tube is not damaged in any way. :)

Thanks for your interest!
