Table saw sled from HDPE

Post by wesneveu »

The average relative humidity here on the Gulf coast is 75% with well over 80% each morning we often go three weeks to a month hovering around 96%, MDF doesn't last long around here. I will use HDPE for the sliders, my question is has anyone tried making the entire sled from HDPE sheet?

I haven't but, it would be an interesting experiment. Go for it. We'll watch. ;)

I haven't worked with it, but it should work really well. It should slide better than a wood product and not care about humidity.
It is however really messy to cut like any plastic. Expect lots of plastic bits sticking on everything until you get it cleaned up.
