Rear table support brackets-

I have a Mdl: 510 which I purchased many years ago, I think it was mid to late 90’s if memory serves me correctly. At that time I also purchased the accessory rear table, unfortunately one of the brackets broke. I sent an email to SS on August 26th to see if a replacement was available, a week later I received a reply from SS asking me if I could send a photo of the bracket, which I did. On September 8th I finally heard back from SS stating that the brackets I have are not the same as the ones that currently come with the table but they were going to speak to an engineer in the morning to see if the new brackets are interchangeable with my table and get back to me. Needless to say I never heard back from them.

On September 22nd I again wrote to SS informing them that I was still waiting for a reply. I received a reply on September 26th stating that they were trying to locate the information on the older support table and that they would get me an answer by end of day on Wednesday September 27th.

On October 18th I called SS and spoke to Anita, I explained the difficultly I was having in getting an answer. She said that she could not find any of my emails or photos I sent, and ask me to once again send photos to her attention, which I did immediately after our phone conversation. Once again I heard nothing back from SS or Anita.

On October 25th I again called SS, this time I spoke to a different women who stated that Anita was out and that they were behind on answering emails but she assured me that she would forward all my emails and photos to management and someone would get back to me shortly. Well as of the writing of this post I have heard nothing from SS.

I have attached photos of the brackets I am looking to replace and would like to know if anyone knows if they are still available or if the newer configuration brackets can be retrofitted to my table. I would hate to have to purchase an entire table just because the old style brackets are no longer available, if that in fact is true? Any information regarding the brackets would be most appreciated.

Again my apologies for this rather long post but I am so disappointed and frustrated with SS customer service at this point. It was not at all like this years ago when I first purchased my SS 510. I’d be curious to hear if anyone else has been having difficultly with customer service?

That's the 55307 support table, which they still advertise in the "catalog."

Maybe order a new table and tell them to hold everything but the support brackets?

I am surprised they are having so much difficulty with an item still in the catalog.

I agree, however from what I have been told so far the support brackets are a different design and that apparently is where the problem is, no one seems to know if the newer design will work with my table.

Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I recently ordered a set of the new casters and one of them was damaged so it wouldn't fit into the wheel assembly, it's been over a week since I called and told them and I still have heard nothing.

My home made brackets are built the way they are so that they could be used in conjunction with the extension table brackets that Shopsmith sells. When I use the extension table brackets (555997) the outfeed table needs no support leg; it is sort of a cantilever arrangements. This what the second set of holes is for.

The question I have, is why not simply clean up the ones you have?

Are they damaged somehow other than light rust?

Might not be that simple. Each of those brackets have a spring loaded pin that inserts into the table tubes. We have not yet been informed as to "how they broke".

Besides, I don't have a welding machine and hiring it done may cost more than a new table.

Replace the brackets!!!
