Re: Power Pro No power

Post by budlyte56 »

I began having low speed problems with my power pro and finally ended up with an rps error. Followed the directions for moving the fan up closer to the board. During the process I tried to remove the fan by removing the snap ring and the set screw. Noticed the fan would only move up or down about an 1/8 of an inch but something would not allow the fan to come off the shaft. Looks like there is some other material in the set screw hole that keeps the fan from being removed (the set screw is very small). There is a slot below the set screw which makes me think there is an additional procedure that needs to be done in order to remove the fan. Got the motor to run again but I don't have any confidence that it will continue working for long. Has anyone run into this problem not being able to remove the fan so you can get to the speed board?

After reading this thread I am not liking the possible outcome. Have also had problems getting ss to respond to questions.

Thanks

I talked to a real person two different times. First said to send in the display and black box. Second said the repair guy is very busy and hasn't got a chance to look at my parts yet. I will await some kind of response.

I have has a RPS error code issue multiple times over the last couple of years. First time in 2016, I had to replace the power supply and the speed sensor--here is one link on this subject
http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/maint ... 20268.html

The second time in 2017, I had the same error, but was able to blow out saw dust from the head-stock housing and the system worked fine until yesterday July 15, 2018. Tried blowing our the saw dust as just discussed but no luck. I am really getting down on the reliability of the SS with all the digital components. Wonder if I am alone in this frustration.
