Hey Everyone,
I just picked up a used 510 locally here in Manitoba. Reason I bought it was to upgrade the tables etc, on my Grandfather's perfect model 500.The 510 is rusty though, so I've begun to clean up parts with evapo-rust. Some of the rusty parts do not appear to have been painted. For example, the table trunnion was rusted, but is now clean thanks to a dip in evapo-rust. My question is, should I leave it the way it is, or paint it to prevent rerusting? It is now kept in my insulated garage that is heated over winted. If I just put paste wax on the bare parts, would that be enough to stop rust in the future?
Thanks.

Re: Unpainted metal parts on SS
I would not paint things that were not originally painted especially moving parts.
Waxing should provide good protection if kept indoors(climate controlled). Time will reveal that which doesn't work.
