Salt and pepper mechanisms

Post by debrown »

My bride of 45 years has decided that I need to make some salt and pepper grinders. All I know is the mechanisms should be ceramic. I see some at Rockler and others. Anyone have an opinion? ( )

I've made quite a few, from 6" to 18". Can't remember for sure where I got the hardware, but most probably from WOODCRAFT. The hardest part for me was boring straight holes on. the longer ones. Needed extensions for the Forstner bit.
Ceramic is only needed for the salt mill. Stainless steel for pepper.

After I get in the shop, I can most likely find where I got the hardware. I'll look tomorrow.

the correct location where I got my hardware is CRAFT SUPPLIES USA. By the way, the instructions coming with the parts are excellent.

I have made a few and used the ones from Woodcraft and everyone likes them. Two pair were for a restaurant and get used a lot and had no issues.
