To short lathe arm

I have a mark 510 ,when I try to do a bigger or deeper bowl ( more then 10" wide or deep) tthe 8" arm will not reach into the bowl . Shopsmith does not appear to have an extenction to add to lathe arm. Ideas or ? Just make one myself? Thanks

Try bestwoodtools.com they have a wide selection of tool rests both in 3/4" and 1" which fits the heavy universal tool rest.

Are you using the correct arm. There are two versions one for the 500 and one for the 510/520. The 500 one may be too short
