While voting today, I was signing in on the little screen of an IPad connected to a tiny printer and a tiny router or something, it struck me... We are deciding the fate of our nation on hardware that you can buy at WalMart... :)

The voting is done; the counting continues. Once that is done, the contesting begins.

BUT, at least it looks like we might be OKAY. At least there is a system of "checks and balances" in play.

I just wish that our leaders would do what is right for the country instead of protecting their jobs.
I also wish that any Congress person that does not actively participate in the work they were voted for be removed and replaced. They should not allowed to be absent from any congressional vote, board meeting, committee meeting, or bill discussion.

At the risk of going political, I am going to comment and then I am "out-of-here".

They can be replaced, Ed. Vote them out. Also remember, not all of their work is done in DC and they do pay a staff to cover in their absence.

ADIOS!

I dislike saying this, but lately my votes have gone to the candidate who did NOT bash their opponent.

I reason that that is a last ditch effort to disguise their own shortcoming.

We had a local mayor race here that did not involve all that negative crap. I actually had to make a decision. ;)

I certainly understand that. However, if those candidates do not support what you believe in then why would you vote for them?

Any candidate that 'supports' negative ads does not support my beliefs. If the other candidate does not support my beliefs either, they also do not get my vote. Yes that sometimes ends up being a wasted vote. Just because only a very small choice is available does not mean I have to vote for the lessor of the evils. Ya a catch 22!

We have rank choice voting here, several races the winner wont be known until next week. Its a despicable system, devised by people who know sometimes you can win by not losing.
