I called SS this morning about purchasing the Live Center Extension. The lady on the phone didn't know what I was talking about. When I provided the SS part number listed in one of the posts above, she said that that part number was for the Lathe Duplicator accessory and would not work on the regular lathe... Didn't make a lot of sense to me, a #2 morse taper is a #2 morse taper, but... I went to Granger and ordered one from them. Sorry ShopSmith, I tried.
ShopSmith MarkV-520 with Belt Sander, Jointer, Band Saw, Strip Sander, Scroll Saw and Biscuit Jointer SPTs and a DC-3300...

Hi,
If I understand this now the shopsmith part uses the MT2 from the live center and attaches to that and that either one or two of them can be added and then the live center part goes on the far end. Again it would be nice to see pictures of it if anyone can. If that is the case then they don't have a MT on them but do require you to have the shopsmith live center.
Any reason you went with the granger one when you could have got the Packard version for $14.95? I know several of us here have them and they are made well and work fine.

Yeah Ed, the only reason is, I made the purchase about 20 minutes before you posted the link to the other thread with the cheaper one. My loss. If I'd seen your post first, I would have ordered from them.reible wrote:Any reason you went with the granger one when you could have got the Packard version for $14.95? I have two of them, one comes with the Lathe Duplicator and only work with the SS live center. The only advantage over the #2 Morse Taper extender is the Shopsmith live center does not support a drift pin so it could be extremely hard to remove.
If have post a picture here in the past, let me know if I need to do it again.
